Our next biggest
challenge of the day was to get everything stowed! For a good hour the three of us re-arranged
and tucked things away. We were planning on having dinner with George and
Margery however by the time we called it was too late for them. We hunted
around on the internet and found a restaurant called the Hanger on the Wharf,
we called a taxi cab and we were on our way. Our taxi ride turned into a tour
of the city since our restaurant was clear downtown on the wharf. The downtown
area was swarming with people because for some unexplained reason, the city of
Juneau was putting on a fireworks show in the harbor on the 3rd. It was fun to go out for dinner but we were all
tired from our chores and ready to head home.

Day 33 ~ Auke Bay, Juneau
Our friends
George and Margery were heading to the store later in the day and invited me to
tag long so we didn’t have to rent a car. I headed out with my list in hand and woke
Wendy up before I left! While I was
gone, Wendy cleaned the entire inside of the boat and Dad washed the outside. I
was impressed that the prices at the Juneau Costco were similar to home. We stopped
at Safeway and the marine store before returning to the boat. Another thing I
liked about Alaska is the women there are not all caught up in fashion. For
example, at the stores the women were typically shopping in flannel shirts,
pony tails and rubber boots. As we approached the marina, the skies opened up
and the rain came down in buckets. Of course, our boat was out about as far as
it could be in the marina. Dad came up and helped me wheel yet another load of
groceries down the dock in the rain.
